SLU-PP-332

Summary

SLU-PP-332 is a synthetic small molecule, not a peptide. It is an agonist of the estrogen-related receptors (ERR alpha, beta and gamma), a family of nuclear receptors involved in mitochondrial and oxidative metabolism gene programmes, and was made as a research tool compound. It has a page here because several listed suppliers sell it alongside their peptides.

What it targets

ERR agonists act on gene programmes linked to mitochondrial function and oxidative metabolism in muscle. In the one study linked below, muscle biopsies were taken from 20 women during hip replacement surgery and split by self-reported physical activity; myoblasts cultured from the less active group were then treated with SLU-PP-332, which was associated with reversal of the observed expression differences (NOX4, SIRT1, PGC-1 alpha, ERR alpha, FNDC5), less oxidative stress and senescence, and more myotube formation. The compound was applied to cells in culture, not given to people. No human trial of SLU-PP-332 appears in the literature reviewed for this page.
