Treatment with LL-37 is safe and effective in enhancing healing of hard-to-heal venous leg ulcers: a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial

Summary
A double-blind, placebo-controlled randomised trial in 34 patients with hard-to-heal venous leg ulcers, with a three-week run-in and a four-week treatment phase of topical LL-37. At the lower tested strengths the ulcer healing rate was about six times that of placebo, with a mean ulcer area reduction of 68%. No safety concerns were reported. The authors note that the highest tested strength did not show the same effect.
