Summary
A preclinical study in db/db mice with induced, hypertension-accelerated diabetic kidney disease, comparing survodutide, a dual glucagon and GLP-1 receptor agonist, with vehicle over 10 weeks. Treated mice had lower body weight, blood glucose and urinary albumin, with less glomerulosclerosis, kidney enlargement and inflammation. Three-dimensional kidney imaging showed reduced kidney and glomerular enlargement and higher glomerular density, and liver markers were consistent with glucagon receptor activation. This is a mouse study and does not test people. Funding is not stated in the abstract.
