Safety and efficacy of ARA 290 in sarcoidosis patients with symptoms of small fiber neuropathy: a randomized, double-blind pilot study
Heij L, et al. (2012). Molecular Medicine.
Summary
A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot in 22 sarcoidosis patients with symptoms of small fibre neuropathy (12 given ARA 290, 10 placebo) over four weeks. The ARA 290 group improved more than placebo on a small fibre neuropathy screening score, and improved from baseline on the pain and physical-functioning parts of a quality-of-life questionnaire. Pain intensity and fatigue scores improved in both groups to a similar degree, and depressive symptoms did not change. No safety concerns were identified. The authors describe it as an exploratory pilot.
