Study on the Regulatory Mechanism of GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Liraglutide in Diabetic Corneal Epithelial Wound Healing
Liu et al. (2026). Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science.
Summary
An experimental study of liraglutide in diabetic corneal injury, using diabetic mice and cells grown in high glucose. Liraglutide improved cell viability, proliferation and migration and reduced cell death. It activated the Nrf2/HO-1/NQO1 and PI3K/Akt pathways, lowering oxidative stress, and reduced inflammatory macrophage infiltration through lower MAPK signalling. This is an animal and cell study and does not test people. Funding is not stated in the abstract.
