Chronic semaglutide treatment attenuates cue-induced reinstatement of cocaine-seeking and cocaine-induced stereotypy in male and female rats

Summary
A preprint, not yet peer-reviewed, from the University of Michigan. Rats that had self-administered cocaine received semaglutide during a 30-day abstinence period and were then tested for relapse-like behaviour. Semaglutide reduced cue-triggered reinstatement of cocaine-seeking and cocaine-induced repetitive movements in male and female rats. Lever pressing was still raised after a cocaine priming test, so the effect was partial. The authors say the results support further study. This is an animal preprint. Funding is not stated in the abstract.
