Wang S, et al. (2026). Diabetes Therapy.

Summary

A post hoc analysis of the SCHOLAR real-world study in Chinese adults with diabetes, looking at the 42.3% of participants who used semaglutide together with an SGLT2 inhibitor. Mean HbA1c fell by 0.64 percentage points from baseline to month 6, and by 1.20 points in those on continuous combined treatment with a baseline HbA1c of 7% or higher. The share with HbA1c under 7% rose from 37.8% to 55.1%. Total and LDL cholesterol and triglycerides fell and HDL rose. Gastrointestinal events were the most frequent adverse events. It is a non-randomised, post hoc analysis. Funded by Novo Nordisk (China); two authors are Novo Nordisk employees.
