Nicotinamide mononucleotide supplementation improves polycystic ovary syndrome by activating SIRT2-mediated LDHA K119 deacetylation to enhance glycolytic activity

Zhang Z, Xue H, Tu H, et al. (2026). International Journal of Biological Macromolecules.

Summary

A study of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a precursor of NAD+, in a rat model of polycystic ovary syndrome and in a human granulosa-like cell line. In the rats, NMN reversed insulin resistance, raised androgen levels, estrous cycle disruption and polycystic ovarian shape, and raised ovarian NAD+ and glycolytic activity. Cell experiments pointed to SIRT2-mediated deacetylation of the enzyme LDHA. The authors call it preclinical evidence. No competing interests were declared.
