Summary
Pinealon is a synthetic three-amino-acid peptide (Glu-Asp-Arg) from the Khavinson series of bioregulator peptides. Its developers describe it as neuroprotective. The published literature is small, comes almost entirely from the developing institute, and does not include controlled human trials.
What it targets
In cultured rat neurons, neutrophils and PC12 cells under oxidative stress, Pinealon was associated with lower reactive-oxygen-species accumulation and less cell death, with changes to ERK signalling and the cell cycle. A 2021 review by the developers collects their cell and animal work and proposes a mechanism for Alzheimer's disease in which the peptide enters cells and alters gene expression; that mechanism is hypothesised, not demonstrated. The review mentions memory findings in elderly patients but the underlying trial is not among the papers linked here.
