Continued CagriSema treatment preserves weight loss by reducing energy intake and maintaining energy expenditure in rats

Summary
A rat study of continued cagrilintide plus semaglutide (CagriSema) in male diet-induced obese rats, compared with vehicle and with calorie restriction matched either to the treated rats' body weight or to their food intake. Over six weeks of treatment, the combination kept weight down mainly by lowering energy intake, which accounted for 86% of the weight-loss effect, while total energy expenditure was largely preserved (14%). Energy expenditure was lower in the weight-matched calorie-restricted rats. This is an animal study in rats. Several authors work in research and development at Novo Nordisk, which develops CagriSema.
