Protective effects of BPC 157 in rats with experimentally induced lower extremity ischemia-reperfusion injury

Yildirim AK, Demirtas H, Ozer A, Arslan M (2026). Scientific Reports.

Summary

A rat study of BPC 157 in lower-limb ischemia-reperfusion injury induced by aortic clamping. The injury raised markers of oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis and damaged muscle tissue. In rats given BPC 157, these markers were lower, antioxidant measures were restored, VEGF expression was partly restored and muscle architecture looked better. The authors say larger cohorts and dose-response work are needed. No competing interests were declared.
